Ms. Passe obtained her B.S. and M.A. in Communication Disorders at Truman State University, Kirksville, MO.

Melissa S. Passe, M.A., CCC-SLP, is the Clinical Director of the Truman State University Speech and Hearing Clinic. She develops the clinic schedule, oversees clinic communication with clients, supervises student clinicians, and oversees the management of the McGuire Media Center. Ms. Passe also coordinates internship placements for graduate students and serves on the graduate admissions committee.

Ms. Passe Is the past Chair of the Council for Clinical Certification in audiology and speech-language pathology of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA). The council develops and implements all policy, procedures, and judicial matters pertaining to the professional entry level and specialty certification of speech-language pathologists and audiologists practicing in the United States.

Ms. Passe served as Missouri’s Speech-Language pathology representative to the 2009-2011 ASHA Advisory Council as well as on the ASHA Special Interest Group 11 (Administration and Supervision) steering committee 2011-2013. She also served on the 2012-current National Advisory Committee Praxis Board for Speech-Language Pathology.  Ms. Passe served as a member of the ASHA Board of Ethics (2016-2019) and is a site visitor for the Council on Academic Accreditation for Audiology and speech-language pathology at ASHA.  Ms. Passe has served as topic chair for supervision and precepting for the 2020 and 2022 ASHA conventions.

Ms. Passe served as the 2005-06 president of the Missouri Speech-Language Hearing Association. (MSHA) She has also served as MSHA Vice President for Professional and Public Relations, president-elect and convention volunteer and co-chair.  Ms. Passe is a graduate of the inaugural class of the Leadership Development Program at ASHA. 

Ms. Passe and her husband  have two grown sons that they are quite proud of. In her spare time Ms. Passe enjoys writing, scrap booking and traveling. Her professional loves are leadership and laughter.
