Dr. Datha Damron-Martinez

Professor Damron-Martinez earned both her Ph.D. in Business Administration/Marketing and M.A. in Economics from New Mexico State University; she also earned an MBA. Prior to her academic career, Dr. Martinez worked both internationally and in the U.S. in marketing for over 12 years. Dr. Martinez teaches principles of marketing, marketing research, sales, and retail management; her classes are active in service-learning projects, working with small local businesses as well as the Missouri Rural Enterprise and Innovation Center and the Truman ROTC. Dr. Martinez serves on the Advisory Board for the Student Success Center and the Truman Institute. She is a two-time recipient of the Golden Apple award for teaching, and a two-time finalist for Educator of the Year. Recent publications are the International Journal of Integrated Marketing Communications, Journal of Sports Administration and Supervision, and Journal of Teaching in International Business; new research was recently accepted in the Journal of Education for Business. Dr. Martinez is faculty advisor for the Truman Chapter of the American Marketing Association and Women’s Club Volleyball. She is married to Arthur Martinez, executive with CenturyLink; they have two daughters.
