BA, MA, Truman State University.
Even though my family is from Missouri, I never really lived here much growing up. Instead, my time was spent between the south (Alabama) and west (California). That being said, my annual trips back to the Show-Me-State impressed me enough that I knew I wanted to eventually settle here once life would allow.
After a 4-year enlistment in the Navy, I enrolled in Truman State University where I received my Bachelor’s in English in ’06 and my MA in English in ’09. A short, but eventful, post-grad job hunt made me quickly realize that my ideal working situation would have to include Truman. Soon thereafter I was hired at the Assessment and Testing center on campus where I worked until December 2014 when I switched over to the Center for Academic Excellence to start work as an academic adviser.
Outside of my advising duties, my real passion would be my family and teaching. I have taught at Truman since ’07 and have frequently done adjunct work at the Kirksville campus of MACC.
As for family, I have been married to my wife Jessica (also a Truman alum) for 12 years and we have two sons who keep us occupied most of the time. During the summer you will mostly find me in front of a BBQ or holding a fishing pole.
