Physics Colloquium: Searching for the Higgs boson and other subatomic particles

The CMS experiment at CERN’s Large Hadron Collider is one of two experiments that discovered the Higgs boson in 2012. The experiment is still taking data, searching for new particles, and measuring the properties of the known ones. The talk will present an overview of the CMS experiment and its physics goals.
