TRUCARE 2017:
So Others Might Eat

April 2, 2017 | 10:30 a.m. – 1:15 p.m.

So Others Might Eat
71 O St NW, Washington, DC 20001

The Alumni Association invites everyone to participate in TruCare, an international event where the Truman State University community comes together to volunteer locally to show Bulldog spirit by paying it forward. The Mid-Atlantic Alumni Chapter will have their TruCare service event at SOME.

SOME works to help alleviate pain, hunger, and isolation for hundreds of homeless and struggling individuals and families every day. Volunteers will help serve lunch in SOME’s dining room to 100+ guests. Volunteers will be on the ‘line’ making plates as guests arrive for lunch and help with set up and cleaning tables between lunch shifts. There are 15 spaces open for volunteers.

Upon your arrival at SOME you will be given a brief orientation and be issued a nametag and SOME apron. Staff will be available to help you throughout your volunteer shift. Limited parking is available in our lot that is adjacent to the Dining Room and on the street. There are 13 parking spots labeled “visitor parking” for volunteers. If you are not sure please ask one of our staff members.

While Truman students are gearing up for the Big Event in Kirksville, we’re excited to bring that same TruCare spirit of volunteering to Washington DC. See you at SOME! If you aren’t able to attend the TruCare event but volunteer throughout the month of March, please log your service hours online. For more information about TruCare, please visit the TruCare website.

Interested in attending? RSVP ASAP to Nora Graves or the Office of Advancement at (800) 452-6678.
