Mental Health Awareness Week

Shake the Stigma, a mental health awareness campaign, is coming to campus again this semester! According to the National Institute on Mental Health, “75 percent of lifetime cases of mental health conditions begin by age 24, and one in four young adults between the ages of 18 and 24 has a diagnosable mental illness.” The symptoms of mental illness are often misunderstood and associated with a negative stigma. The stigma tends to resonate in the form of hurtful stereotypes, myths, and misinformation. Education is key to improving the quality of life for those who suffer from mental illness and we believe it is time to start conversations!
