Exploring and Preserving Truman State University’s Collection of Great War Propaganda Posters
Designed to arouse the passions of contemporaries, Great War propaganda posters provide unique opportunities for exploring the thoughts, emotions, and actions of the American nation at the time of its participation in the global conflagration. In commemoration of the World War I centenary, Amanda Langendoerfer, Associate Dean of Libraries for Special Collections and Museums, and Jason McDonald, Assistant Professor of American History, recount the origins, preservation, and historical significance of Truman State University’s extensive and impressive collection of propaganda posters.
